WJEC Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Performing Arts (Technical Award) Acting, Musical Theatre or Dance specialism

Year 10

  • Introduction to the PA course – Breakdown of units/choices of specialism and expectations – (1)
  • Team work & Confidence building – bonding as a professional Theatre Company – Workshops (theatre practitioners e.g. Brecht & Stanislavski, choreographers e.g. Lea Anderson, Matthew Bourne) (Sept – Dec)
  • Preparation for Unit 1 – Performing & Unit 2 – Creating (Jan– Feb)
  • Devising and Choreographing – preparation for external assessment – Unit 3 – Performing Arts in Practice (March – April)
  • (May – July) Unit 1 – Performing – Complete Controlled Assessment

 

Year 11

  • (Sept – Dec) – Unit 2 – Creating – Complete -Unit 2 enables learners to gain, develop and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the skills and techniques needed to create and refine original work in the performing arts.
  • (Jan – April) Unit 3 – Performing Arts in Practice – Unit 3 introduces learners to areas of the Performing Arts that need to be considered when responding to an industry commission.
  • External Live Performance Exam – time off timetable to undertake the exam
  • (May-July) Further study within each learners specialism in preparation for future courses, the wider world and the professional Performing Arts Industry.
