Chair of Governors

Mr Adrian Nicholls

As Chair of Governors at Rhyddings  I am proud of the Governing Body and the input the Governors have to the school, working closely with staff, pupils and other stakeholders to be a part of the Rhyddings family.

School governors are responsible for helping to provide an environment in which a good quality education can be delivered.
They have an important part to play in upholding school standards and shaping the futures of the young people who will form the workforce and community of tomorrow.

The Governing Body has three core functions at Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School:

• Setting the strategic direction
• Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school
• Ensuring financial health, probity and value for money.

These core functions are consistent with the criteria that Ofsted will use to judge the performance of the Governing Body.

The Governing Body has the following committees:

• Full Governing Body – all Governors attend
• Curriculum (subcommittee)
• Leadership, Behaviour and Personal Development(subcommittee)
• Finance and Resources (subcommittee)
Additional committee meetings are held if necessary e.g. Pay Panel

How to become a Governor

Governors come from a wide range of backgrounds that reflect both the local community and parent voice. If you are interested in being a Governor, please contact the Chair of Governors via this website to discuss what is involved and what you can offer to the Governing Body. Being a school Governor is rewarding, you need good common sense and an interest in the school and education as a whole – previous experience as a Governor, though welcomed is not necessary.
