We strongly believe that provision of physical education both inside the curriculum and out is crucial in helping young people to learn and develop life skills. It is this reason that all our students will complete a GCSE in Sport Studies.

Students receive 2 x 1hr 5min lessons per week; one being an indoor lesson and the other an outdoor lesson. In Year 7 & 8 both of these lessons are practical/ skills focused.

In Year 9, students follow one of two pathways, they either choose the GCSE PE (OCR) or study a vocational qualification V-CERT in Health and Fitness, the current Year 11 students are also studying the EDEXCEL GCSE PE Specification.

Students are given opportunities take on a variety of roles such as leader and official, with or close par5tnership with local primary schools. Students are involved in the continuous process of planning, performing and evaluating their own and others work in each activity area we undertake.

Outstanding students who show good leadership qualities and attend regular extra-curricular activities may be selected as sports ambassadors in Year 10. This role allows students to act in a coaching capacity with local primary students, and to gain a qualification in Sports leadership.
