It was a tense and exciting night in the Rhyddings Masterchef kitchen! Our four semi-finalists – Charlotte, Kizzy, Daisy and Morgan – watched as Chef Matt from Freemasons at Wiswell created a deconstructed lemon meringue pie. They had to take notes as he cooked, so that they could recreate it as best they could. It was a very difficult challenge, but one that our students rose to. They should all be extremely proud of their achievement – certainly the staff and family members who showed up were. Miss Greenhalgh and I had told the students to prepare for a dessert challenge, but even we were taken aback to be pouring custard into copper pipes!
With the final this Wednesday, there is very little time for our two finalists, Charlotte and Daisy, to prepare. Good luck girls, and commiserations to Morgan and Kizzy. There was only half a point between second and third place, and another half point between third and fourth. The students have certainly made judging very difficult for us this year!
