Advanced Apprenticeships
Our Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme typically lasts three to four years, depending on your starting point. After spending three to four years at college learning the engineering basics of your particular pathway, you’ll begin at one of our company sites developing hands-on practical experience, while continuing your academic studies on a day-release basis. You’ll follow one of the following pathways:
  • Automotive – you’ll help test extraordinary models or build innovative concepts at the forefront of vehicle technology
  • Maintenance – from prevention to investigation, you’ll keep a wide range of cutting-edge equipment working smoothly
  • Manufacturing Support – making world-class manufacturing techniques and processes even better, you’ll help us astonish the world
  • Tool Room/Model Factory – use both traditional hand-skills and the latest technology to maintain or develop groundbreaking products

What you’ll gain
During the scheme, academic and vocational qualifications gained will include:

  • NVQ2 in Performing Engineering Operations
  • NVQ3 in the appropriate trade pathway for your role
  • A Technical Certificate

What you’ll need
You’ll need to have, or expect to gain within this academic year, at least five GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above. Your subjects must include Maths, English and a core Science subject. We may also consider a relevant Level 3 or above equivalent engineering qualification, depending on the content that you’ve studied.

Higher Apprenticeships:
Our Higher Apprenticeship Scheme typically lasts six years, depending on your starting point. After spending an initial period at college learning the engineering basics of your particular pathway, you’ll begin at one of our company sites developing your technical knowledge, your business acumen and your people skills alongside your academic studies. You’ll follow one of the following pathways:

  • Production Supervision – developing engineering knowledge and supervisory skills, you’ll drive a team to manufacture high quality products
  • Finance – experiencing several departments, you’ll combine engineering knowledge, financial and analytical skills to estimate key costs
  • Purchasing – you’ll solve supplier technical issues at our manufacturing sites, and help suppliers improve overall quality
  • Design – whether developing digital/clay models, translating concepts into products, or turning data into vehicles, you’ll help shape icons
  • Product Development – you’ll carry out vehicle calibration tests to improve performance, or blend computer aided engineering with modelling to generate vehicle geometry
  • Manufacturing Engineering – learning advanced manufacturing techniques and project management skills, you’ll help plan launches and deliver new products

What you’ll gain
During the scheme, academic and vocational qualifications gained will include:

  • NVQ2 in Performing Engineering Operations
  • NVQ3 in Business Improvement Techniques
  • NVQ4 in Engineering Leadership
  • Foundation Degree
  • A fully sponsored Engineering Degree

What you’ll need
You’ll need to have at least five GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above (including Maths, English and a core science subject). You’ll also need to have, or expect to gain within this academic year, at least one A-Level in a mathematical subject at grade C or above, and an A-Level in a science, technology or engineering related subject at grade C or above. We may also consider a relevant Level 4, equivalent engineering qualification, depending on the content that you’ve studied.
