Rhyddings has won the top prize of a Music Concert, for the ‘Best Sustainable Travel Campaign 2012’ by the Lancashire County Council.
Our whole school campaign focused on the new 20 Zone areas across Lancashire and the awareness of the benefits of cycling and walking to school.
All students were asked to outline a clear planning structure for their campaign. Our students worked very hard in their form groups and had lots of wonderful ideas to develop their campaigns. The final ideas included: – recorded raps, selected 20 zone cards for visitors, leaflets, posters, banners, bracelets to sell, cakes with 20 signs to sell and many more. The Sustainable Champions began to share their campaign across school, via the website, emails and Rhyddings TV’s. The cross-curricular sustainable travel projects included several projects in Maths, RE, Citizenship and the year 7 zone.
Our events have been supported by Tesco in Accrington; Community Champion Janet has donated prizes for our winning forms. On Saturday 16th June members of the Sustainable Champions will be taking their Campaign to Tesco.
Thank you to everyone for all their hard work.
Well done Rhyddings!!!
