Dan Woods, Scarlett Parry and Peter Johnson from Cassons guide Morgan Herne, Lucas Stirzaker, Amanda Capstick and Ammaar-Faiz Ahmed through some examples of accounting for business.

Cassons Accountants were in school last week to lend their expertise in handling figures to our Year 11 Business Studies students for a professional perspective on ‘balancing the books.’

Peter Johnson, Scarlett Parry, Dan Woods, Joanne Halsall and Laura Isherwood led a session on the flow of financial documents in a business and covered concepts like gross vs net profit and Value Added Tax.

Using the context of multi-platinum selling singer songwriter Ed Sheeran and the theoretical issues he would have with his accounts, Cassons helped the students to understand various methods and tax issues that will come in useful for their exam in June.

Business Studies teacher Mrs Bancroft said: “As always, we are grateful for the ongoing time and support Cassons give to the school and our students. Having input from professionals like Cassons really helps students’ understanding of concepts like VAT, which they often only come across for the first time in Business Studies.”
