Our five remaining competitors were joined by Chef Chris Neary from Hoysters Restaurant on Tuesday evening for the semi-final of Rhyddings Masterchef 2016.
Students watched a demonstration from Chris, and were then tasked with recreating his dish – without the aid of a recipe. They took notes and asked plenty of questions as they watched, and each of them excelled themselves in producing their dish of black pudding, crispy bacon, a poached egg and pea purée.
Chris was very complimentary of our students, especially given that some of them have had very limited experience in the kitchen prior to the competition: “All of the students did an excellent job, and it was very hard to separate them in the end. They should be proud of what they’ve achieved so far. Good luck in the final!”
The results were so close that this year three students will compete in the final, to be held on Wednesday at North Lancs Training Group in their professional kitchen. Best of luck to Daisy Clemson, Logan Parkinson and Poppy Clemson!
