A group of our Able, Gifted and Talented students recently took the British Mensa IQ assessment, which involved sitting a series of examinations to be completed within a set time limit.
Sarah Rothwell and Waqar Ramzan were our most successful students, with very high scores. They were both invited to become members of the Mensa society, an exclusive group which only accepts those with an IQ in the top 2% of the population!
Mensa, set up by two Oxford graduates in 1946, has over 21,000 members in the UK and over 110,000 worldwide that range from age two-and-a-half to 103. Famous members include the inventor Sir Clive Sinclair and television presenter Carol Vorderman.
Maths teacher Miss Jackson said: “We’re extremely proud of Sarah and Waqar, their natural intelligence is regularly reflected in their school work. We have high hopes for them in their upcoming GCSE examinations.”
