Last weekend our Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh students took part in a walk to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston, a mountain in the Lake District which is 2,634 feet high!
We had an absolutely fantastic day! The weather was beautiful and clear and we enjoyed amazing views over Morecambe Bay and the other mountains and fells in the Lake District. We could clearly see Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, which some of our DofE students climbed with myself and Mr Barnes last year whilst they were in Year 9.
Our students had a fantastic attitude and we were very impressed with the skills and teamwork that they demonstrated in the outdoors. We were also impressed (or jealous!) of the pizza lunch that appeared out of Chris’s rucksack!
We have a great group of students participating in DofE this year and we’re looking forward to the next challenge – a two day expedition!
