On Wednesday 25th March, Music Promoters Cuffe & Taylor visited Rhyddings Business and Enterprise school to deliver a presentation and question and answer session to support our Year 10 ICT pupils who are currently completing GCSE coursework. The coursework brief is to organise and design a range of products to promote a music festival.
Daniel Cuffe and Peter Taylor, directors of the company have organised music festival events nationwide, including ‘Lytham Festival’. Pupils learnt about the logistics, promotion and finance of organising successful events. Pupils took part in a question and answer session, where Peter and Daniel answered questions from pupils and spoke about their experiences offering advice and useful websites to use.
Year 10 pupil, Bradley Ram, said, “The presentation was interesting and we learnt about marketing and promotion. It was interesting to find out how much the artists set as a fee for the festivals.”
Pupils also learnt about the design process. Katie Nicholls a design apprentice who has recently won the ‘Apprenticeship Lionheart Challenge’ at Blackpool and the Fylde College has been offered a full time position at Cuffe & Taylor, spoke about how to generate ideas with a concept board and develop this further to a professional product. Pupils watched a show reel with examples of Katie’s fantastic work.
Zak Lentell said, “I liked the movie, you can see a bird’s eye view of the festival, the music went well with the video and has given me ideas for my own video.”
Mrs Alderson, Teaching Assistant at Rhyddings, added “that pupils will benefit greatly from having real life examples and information to use for their coursework.”
Rhyddings Business and Enterprise school would like to say a huge thank you to Cuffe & Taylor for taking time out of their very busy schedules during the run up to the ‘festival season’ and look forward to the upcoming events planned for Summer.
