On Wednesday 8th October the Year 11 netball team travelled to Accrington Academy for the annual Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Tournament. Nine schools from the district were entered into this year’s competition.
Captained by Beth Rothera, the team started off on a high winning their first game 8-0 against Norden in only seven minutes. Their success didn’t stop there. They continued to beat their opponents losing only one game to St Augustine’s, who eventually topped the competition.
Rhyddings finished as runners-up of the whole tournament. It was an impressive performance and a great way to end their netball success at Rhyddings.
Mrs O’Brien’s player of the tournament goes to Charmaine Kelly and she would like to commend Maizee Cryne, who stepped up from Year 10 to play for the team and out of her usual position, performing at a very high level.
Well done to all the girls and I hope you continue with netball after your time at Rhyddings!
