Last weekend our DofE students travelled to Silverdale for their Practice expedition. The aim of the weekend was to prepare and practise for their final expedition to the Yorkshire Dales in July.
Over the weekend we walked a total of 25km carrying everything we needed to be self-sufficient for two days: this included tents; cooking stoves; pots and pans; sleeping bags; hot chocolate; batman onesies; super noodles and more super noodles!
We walked through the stunning and varied landscape of Silverdale and camped on a site overlooking the sea and the Lake District. Our students have again shown themselves to be motivated, mature and map-savvy!
The expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award is not easy and it takes determination and enthusiasm to complete, something which all students demonstrated. I hope that they are as proud of themselves as we are of them!
